Nestled on the cliffs of Uluwatu overlooking a popular surfing spot, Single Fin is, unsurprisingly, the meeting point to watch speechless sunsets and surfers catching waves in Bali.
Single Fin started from humble beginnings and has quickly moved to a popular place in Bali among the alternative and laidback crowd. Whether you’re after an icy cold Bintang to celebrate the journey, feel like kicking back to Wednesday’s acoustic jams, need to jump-start your day with a coffee, or if you just really have to let your hair down with a cocktail, Single Fin is the venue for you.
The balcony boasts stunning views of one of surfing’s spiritual homes, and comes alive as the sun sinks into the majestic Indian Ocean. Great music, tasty food, and a chilled-out atmosphere make coming to Single Fin a must for anyone who visits Uluwatu. One will find surfers heading to the bar for a cold beer after surfing, as well as to catch up with other mates.
The indoor area is smaller and they usually have a live band or a DJ armed with lounge tunes; however, the terrace is where the vibrant crowd is. The DJ usually spins house or techno music – if you’re looking for a party, head down to the renowned Sunday session when it’s open until 1 am (they normally close at 10 pm).
Drinks and food are slightly more expensive than most bars in Bali, but the breathtaking views and the friendly staff compensate for it. Go for a Bami Goreng to enjoy authentic Indonesian cuisine and forget about not-so-good Western food.
How good is life sitting at Single Fin having a beer and watching surfers in action! If the heat hits, you can even climb down the cliff and go for a swim. For me, Single Fin was the best sunset bar in Bali.
